Questions and Answers
💻 🤔 Can I work on my laptop if the boat is rocking?
🧐 Not really. That’s why we carefully select our locations so we're always in or near a sheltered bay or harbor. During the day, we sail short distances close to shore – literally hopping from bay to bay.
Longer crossings happen at night, while everyone is sleeping.
🌐 🤔 Can I rely on the internet?
🧐 Yes! We use high-speed Starlink internet. Multiple devices can connect at once without noticeable slowdowns. It’s been very reliable so far.
🌊 🤔 Will I get seasick?
🧐 Unless you're extremely sensitive, you're probably going to be fine. We avoid rough seas as much as possible so you can work in peace.
You might only feel sick during longer crossings.
TEST: Are you prone to seasickness?
🔴 1. I get carsick suuuper easy.
➡️ Sorry, boat life is probably not for you.
🟠 2. I don’t usually get carsick, but sharp turns or looking at my phone can make me queasy.
➡️ You’ll likely get seasick at some point. Especially during longer trips. Expect a few rough hours, but they’ll pass.
🟢 3. I don’t get carsick and can look at my phone for a long time.
➡️ You’ll probably be totally fine. Maybe a little queasy if the waves are big, but we try to avoid those. You’re good to go!
🟢 4. I’ve never gotten carsick no matter what.
➡️ You’re a sea god. Even Poseidon’s jealous. Book your spot already!
⚓ 🤔 What does “long crossing” mean?
🧐 A trip that takes 5 to 12 hours, usually through open water with waves and wind (i.e., it rocks).
Examples: Thassos <> Samothraki, Thassos <> Halkidiki.
These crossings usually happen at night while guests sleep.
🧳 🤔 Are there any special rules for living on a boat?
🧐 Yes!
-
Don’t overpack. Space is limited and shared with others. If you have your own cabin, you can bring a bit more, but even then – less is more. Most people only use half of what they bring.
-
No hard suitcases. Bring soft duffel bags or backpacks. Boat storage spaces are oddly shaped, and hard cases will just get in the way.
Exception: If you’re flying in, we can store 1–2 suitcases, but no more. -
Shoes must have LIGHT soles. White, beige, or very light gray only.
Black soles are strictly forbidden – they leave permanent marks on the boat.
Logistics
The trip begins and it ends at Kavala port in Greece.
The biggest and very well connected airport nearby is Thessaloniki airport
The closest airport, but it is not verry well connected is Kavalla airport
Locations
The first stop is always Thasos island.
Saturday evening we have dinner in a taverna or on the boat. Then we leave for night sailing to Samothrace island.
We start our Sunday with a hearty breakfast, then rent scooters to begin our island adventure.
Exploring Samothrace - the pearl of the trip - on motorbikes has quickly become everyone’s favorite activity. The sense of freedom and the stunning scenery make it unforgettable.
Our first stop is the famous lakes with waterfalls. We dive into the cold, crystal-clear waters—refreshing and invigorating after the ride.
After the hike, we reward ourselves with a glass of the local Samothrace beer—well-earned and delicious.
For late lunch, we head to a hidden taverna nested deep in the forest—a true paradise for meat lovers, serving mouthwatering local specialties.
If time allows, we hop back on our scooters to explore even more of Samothrace’s hidden gems. This island never stops surprising us.
On Monday, we spend the day at anchor in front of the scenic south beach of Samothrace.
The atmosphere is laid-back and lively, with a fantastic beach bar serving delicious cocktails, good music, and plenty of shade.
We relax, swim, soak up the sun, and join in on a friendly game of beach volleyball.
It’s the perfect way to unwind and enjoy the island's warm, carefree spirit.
We end the day with night sailing to Limnos island.
We spend Tuesday and Wednesday soaking in the beauty of Limnos Island.
We arrive early Tuesday morning, just in time to catch the sunrise over a stunning bay near the island’s unique Little Sahara desert.
After a relaxing start to the day, we visit a charming local taverna for lunch, enjoying fresh island flavors. In the afternoon, we hop between nearby bays, soaking in the serenity of the Aegean. We cook diner on board —a perfect end to the day.
On Wednesday, we have the option to head to Keros Bay, a paradise for wind and kite surfing enthusiasts. The area is known for its steady winds and long, sandy beach.
Whether you're a beginner or a seasoned surfer, there are several surf schools offering equipment rentals and professional instruction.
Again night sail to Thasos.
We spend Thursday and Friday exploring the beautiful beaches and bays of Thasos Island.
If needed, we stop by the port of Limenaria to resupply and stretch our legs. From there, the island offers plenty of options—whether you're in the mood for lively beach bars and bustling tavernas, or prefer the peace of quiet, secluded coves perfect for swimming and relaxing.
As the trip winds down, our favorite place to spend the final evening is a remote anchorage near Paradise Beach. With no crowds, no noise—just the sound of the sea and the stars overhead—it’s the perfect spot to reflect, unwind, and soak in the magic of our last night on board.
